Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet announces 2018-2019 SEASON
The 2018-2019 season offers unique collaborations and partnerships, world premiers and intimate dance experiences for the Dallas community.

Dallas, TX – August 1, 2018 – From umbrella-toting beauties to haunting post-apocalyptic zombies, Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet composes the weird and freaky with the painstaking grace of its ballet dancers.

Our season launches with a performance at the 'ARTS TRIANGLE Dance Film Festival', a new annual event held this year at the legendary Texas Theatre. The festival will showcase a dance created by Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet in conjunction with a screening of Jacques Demy's classic 'The Umbrellas of Cherbourg' in 35mm. Additional festival programming includes a curated selection of international dance and experimental movement films, a performance by the Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico company, small bites in a temporary Parisian Cafe outside the theatre, and more. The mission of the festival is to present a platform for both established and emerging dance cinema visionaries to the North Texas audience. Date: September 22, 2018. Location: 231 West Jefferson Boulevard, Dallas, Texas 75208.

This Fall, Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet presents a new Horror Series featuring choreography from the dark minds of Emilie Skinner, Whitney Hart, Erin Boone and Elise Lavallee. These four females will bring tales of terror to the stage, pulling inspiration from horror films, novels and ghost stories. Prominent Dallas-based Visual Artist Jeff Gibbons will premiere new work as a special addition to the program. Date: October 5-6, 2018. Location: Sammons Center for the Arts. Attire: Your favorite Halloween costume!

Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet and the Texas Theatre present a live performance followed by a screening of Dario Argento’s 1977 Italian horror film, Suspiria, on 35 mm on Halloween night. Set to music from the soundtrack by Goblin, Emilie Skinner’s Coven (originally premiered 2014), this audience favorite returns to the stage for a bewitching performance.  “In light of the remake coming out this November, it’s important to celebrate Argento’s original,” Artistic Director, Emilie Skinner says. “Described as a candy-colored nightmare, the film is an absolute masterpiece and provides ample inspiration for a short ballet. We’re thrilled to have Coven back on stage and to be returning to the Texas Theatre for Halloween night!” Date: October 31, 2018. Location: The Texas Theatre.

In the Spring, Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet celebrates early 20th century French musicians and choreographers with a program that includes live music as DNCB continues its partnership with SYZYGY, the contemporary music ensemble of SMU's Meadows School of the Arts, under the direction of Lane Harder. Date: March 22, 2019. Location: Sammons Center for the Arts.

The season will conclude with a revamped Blind Tiger, a new patron favorite, which highlights ballets of the 1920’s as well as Skinner’s comedic ballet A Day in the Life of Florence Louise. Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet invites attendees to dress up in 1920’s attire and to stick around afterwards for an end-of-season champagne toast to celebrate!  Date: June 1, 2019. Location: Sammons Center for the Arts.
